Vaani Gunaseelan holds a Doctorate in Psychology (Clinical) (not a dental or medical qualification) and is trained in the Triple P Positive Parenting Program. She is a Registered Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA – Psychology Board of Australia.
Vaani has experience working with children and youth within community and private mental health settings in Australia and Singapore, where she provided psychological assessment and psychotherapy to children and young people who experienced moderate to severe emotional and behavioural disorders, including depression, anxiety, self-harming behaviour, trauma and abuse, and problems in family relationships.
Working as a Clinical Psychologist, Vaani is also certified to administer a wide range of educational and psychometric assessments for children, teenagers and adults, such as Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI-R), Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals, Stanford Binet, WISC, WIAT and various other abilities tests. Vaani believes in taking a comprehensive approach to determine the presence of developmental disorders and learning difficulties and provides personalised strategies to assist with any identified difficulties.
Vaani has also co-assessed in various medico-legal assessments for as an expert witness. She’s also provided assessments for patients living in various remote parts of South-East Asia seeking psychological, educational and clinical support.
Vaani works closely with parents, teachers and other health professionals to provide individualised assistance to promote each child’s personal growth. Vaani has also been featured in local publications and Mediacorp Vasantham television channel providing professional opinions on clinical issues in teenagers and children.
Vaani speaks both English and Tamil.
